Gratitude – The Quality of Being Thankful

Quote

I awake every morning with gratitude in my heart, beginning my day ‘thanking’ God for the things in my life, both material and spiritual. I find this both humbling and revealing. Humbling because God chose me. Revealing because it frames the endless things He has done in my life.

Give thanks to the God of heaven,
For His lovingkindness (graciousness, mercy, compassion) endures forever.
Psalm 136:26 AMP

In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV

Today, I thank each of you for viewing my Blog and sharing and liking my Posts. When I began this assignment I was not certain if my posts would be received (I had to catch myself, I found myself doubting the Maker). I contacted Barb Raveling, a renown Christian Blogger and Author, who shared, ‘when we do God’s work, the numbers do not matter. The posts placed today will live on, and the words may touch someone many years from now when God needs to touch them most.’

I share this comment with you, some new, some questioning, and some who just need to hear it again. Keep posting when God inspires you to share a scripture. He works through people, and His Word is designed to affect the lives of His people. We are, in effect, His scribes. A friend once told me, ‘if the context of what you are writing about does not match the Word, it is not of God.’  As such, I do not take this responsibility lightly and research the content inspired by God. I do not want to misrepresent the Word or engineer it to mean something it is not. I praise God for this responsibility, it is a blessing to me because it causes me to go deeper in the Word and hopefully a blessing to everyone who reads my posts.

It is with much gratitude that I am one of God’s children and a part of His family of believer’s. Have a blessed day.

Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;  always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father.
Ephesians 5:18-20 NASB

Repost – Why did God create us?

“God created me — and you — to live with a single, all-embracing, all-transforming passion — namely, a passion to glorify God by enjoying and displaying his supreme excellence in all the spheres of life. Enjoying and displaying are both crucial. If we try to display the excellence of God without joy in it, we will display a shell of hypocrisy and create scorn or legalism. But if we claim to enjoy his excellence and do not display itfor others to see and admire, we deceive ourselves, because the mark of God-enthralled joy is to overflow and expand by extending itself into the hearts of others…We waste our lives when we do not pray and think and dream and plan and work toward magnifying God in all spheres of life. God created us for this: to live our lives in a way that makes him look more like the…

God’s Compassion Brings Freedom

Quote

God’s Promise – I will give you life

God has compassion for us. We generally have compassion for others, yet are unable to forgive ourselves for our trespasses. If you’ve been forgiven by God, then it’s time to move forward and follow the path God designed for each of us.

You will make known the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.
Psalm 16:11

I challenge you to forgive yourself and let go. Too many of us are constricted by our past transgressions, are stuck in the Muck and the Mire* of life and not compassionate towards ourselves.

God gave us life.

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
Job 33:4

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
Romans 8:2

We have been purified, set free, but remain corralled by our carnal life, fearing what is outside the fence. We suffer from self-imposed imprisonment.

We fear the future because of our past, but

God did not give us a Spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7

God gave us life and wants our life to be full. God gives us hope for our future. God washed away your sins. Take the first step of freedom from your sins and into life today.

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
John 10:10

The Lords Light Shines Through You

Quote

Just as the light is breaking through the clouds, let your light break through conversations of darkness; environments of doubt, and external chaotic stress.

“God is light; in him, there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:5-7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Yesterday’s Post focused on the Holy Spirit and Truth and developing our Christ-like personality and behavior. Since we are a social people we often find ourselves in the midst of conversations with others. We have all been in conversations that have become toxic, from quiet banter to harsh gossip. It is during these times that others are watching to see if we will partake or let the light shine through us. God is our light and should break through conversational storms, internal dialogue, and private thoughts. If we cover our light, listen to the gossip without attempting to change the atmosphere, or walk away if we cannot change it, we are nothing more than sinners.

“If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God Word shines through Christians. Sometimes we forget everyone watches our every move. This is why we must stay alert and aware of the wiles of the evil one who always looks for the moments when we let our guard down. I know it’s hard to be on point every moment, but we must be vigilant and do our best. It’s always better to look forward than backward in remorse.

The Lord Light Shines Through You.

God’s Promise, if we walk in His light, and it shines through us, we will have fellowship with Him and one another.

God’s Promise – I Will Lead You

Quote

God’s Promise – I will teach you and lead you along the path I have designed for you.

Take time each day and pray, holding a conversation with the Holy Spirit in you. Incline your ears to hear His quiet voice. It’s a voice we should learn intimately.

A Conditional Promise

Quote

There are two types of promises God offers us, the preferred ‘unconditional’ promise – you do nothing to receive it, and the ‘conditional’ promise, you must do something to receive the promise. John 3:18 is a conditional promise, there is no judgement against believers. This scripture is a conditional promise from God. No judgement for believer’s, judgement for non-believer’s. The latter is not God’s desire. God does not want anyone to perish, yet if they go down this road they will.

“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” 2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NASB‬‬

It might be safe to say, we all have family members and friends that don’t really believe in Christ. They know of him, but not in Him for various reasons.

This is where our responsibility to the Good News (the Gospel) begins. It is time to share, Jesus is more than a Prophet, He is our Lord and Savior, who died for our sins and offers us Salvation.

In sharing, we must do two things 1) share the Word, and 2) demonstrate the Word through our behavior. 1 John 3:18 further explains the purpose of demonstration.

Jesus is Love. Non-believers need to see us exude Jesus’ Love in all we do. It is a big order , the carnal man prefers to act out, but as followers of Christ we must hold the Gospel close to our hearts, and live and share the ‘Good News.’ We are God’s ambassadors on earth.

So here we are – Conditional Promises always requires something from us, in this case evangelism. We evangelize through Word and deed (action). They are linked, neither is effective on their own.
