God’s Protection | Daily Inspiration – Lisa's Thoughts

I remember the days when I said, ”thank God, it’s Friday.” Finally, the end of the work week. I could sleep in a little longer and take it easy. Not really easy, my work duties were taken over by weekend chores. I’m a mother of 3 sons, a household of four males, and me.

The point is, I, like most felt the weekend was a time for (relative) rest. And, in secular terms, it is a time for rest, but in the spiritual realm, we have no time off. The truth is – to relax in the spiritual realm is dangerous. Why? Satan ramps up his attack on our lives when we are not alert. Fighting the ‘good fight of faith’ is a 24/7 commitment. God’s grace, our faith, and the scriptures are our weapons.

As Christians, we are called to share the Good News through word and deed. Setting this commitment aside for a few days weakens our spiritual health.

It is called the good fight because we are sharing the Word about God and Truth.

Each morning I prepare to fight the good fight (which is a battle) by putting on the Whole Armor of God (every warrior wears armor) and call my angel to duty. We can never relax to the point of leaving ourselves open to attack.

The Good Fight of Faith is a lifelong calling. We can never let down our guard. We should say, “Thank you God for waking me up at the appointed time every day because this is the day that You have made, and I am ready and prepared for whatever lies ahead.”

We are blessed to be Gods children and warriors. My mantra is – “Armor Up and Fight the Good Fight of Faith every day.”

Living Through the Muck and Mire of Life

Over the past week or so, we have been talking about our dependence upon the Lord and how he works wonders in our lives, not because of anything we do, but because of his unconditional love for us. Just think how life would be if we did not interject our own wants and desires that derail us. Our Free Will causes problems when not in alignment with the Word. Our Free Will hears the voice of the Holy Spirit telling us what to do but ignores it, it falls on deaf ears. Free Will carries consequences. We head off blindly down a trail, not a clearly defined road, and when we look up, we find ourselves in the muck and mire, or according to the King James Version of the Bible, mud and mire.

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Psalm 40:2 NIV

Think of muck and mire being something like quicksand, or a horrible muddy pit at the worst and a muddy hole in the road, at the least. The Lord plucks us out of the pits we fall into – the muck and mire of destruction. While we’re in the pit wallowing in the mud, we often feel that our situation is beyond hope, beyond help, beyond recovery. We find ourselves slipping off the rock we are attempting to perch ourselves on to stop the slippage, still trying to be in control of our destiny; and in a ruinous state of sin and guilt, unable to save ourselves.

And, while we are slipping and sliding, seeking solid ground and exhausted, ‘in steps God’. Christ is our rock, and he takes us by the hand and plants us back on solid ground. He re-establishes our steps and leads us to safety. Whenever we find ourselves caught in the muck and mire of life, remember Psalm 40:2. Like a parent, he picks us up, cleans us off and stands us back up.

As Christians, we continue to grow in a relationship with our Lord, and we will continue to follow Free Will that diverts us from our path. We will continue to find ourselves in situations that nudge us to become more and more dependent on our Lord and Savior. Our experiences are lessons that cause our ears to become more inclined to hear the quiet voice that says do not turn to the left or the right; keep your foot from evil. Proverbs 4:27 NIV. The direction we take is of our choosing. We choose to follow the Lords’ voice, and we also choose the way of the muck and the mire. As Christian Warriors we must learn not to depart from the prescribed path but listen to the quiet voice behind us saying, this is the way. We must learn to tame our Free Will to stay out of the muck and mire, however, when we find ourselves there, call out to the Lord. He is patiently waiting for us.

Our Lord is a Lord of multiple chances. As long as we are in a relationship with him, he will never turn away from us.

Greater Than Kryptonite

Through the crucifixion of Christ, we received the most powerful gift we can ever be given, the Holy Spirit, and now he lives in everyone that has accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Knowing this, we have the most powerful element of life within us all the time, even when we don’t feel his presence. The Holy Spirit is kryptonite to satan and his minions. To put this in perspective, kryptonite is a fictional mineral that deprived Superman of his powers. Our kryptonite, The Holy Spirit (not fictional) denies the evil one from destroying us. Our kryptonite, The Holy Spirit, takes away the evil one’s power over our lives. When we rely on Jesus and him alone (in a state of dependence), there’s no stopping us because Jesus sent us the Holy Spirit to reside in us in his absence. We will be challenged and tested but will remain victorious in the Lord. When we know we are in a struggle but hold fast to our faith; we are victors. Our challenges test our faith and produce perseverance, endurance, and patience, all things that equip us for the battles of life. If we have faith, even as small as a mustard seed, how can we fail? The power is ignited by our faith.

“We will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on us, and we will be his witnesses.” Acts 1:8 NIV

“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.“ Luke 17:6 NIV

The Holy Spirit gives us the words to speak to our troubles and command them to move, to leave, to evaporate.

There is a God-given lesson in each of our life’s experiences. Faith shifts our perspective and you will see beauty in the struggles, and even losing a battle from time to time. The struggle is God preparing us to continue our journey more empowered through the testing of our faith and the lessons learned.

We are Christian Warriors and part of a strong army whose leader dwells within us. Our kryptonite (power) lives within us. It is the Holy Spirit, who is always glowing brightly within us and through us for others to see. We are his powerful witnesses that have kryptonite within us. It is through the Trinity that we live. The Holy Spirit is one part of the Trinity: The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit.

God is our Father.
Jesus, our Lord and Savior, sits with The Father and intercedes on our behalf.
The Holy Spirit lives in us to direct and maneuver us around the traps of the evil one.
