God’s Promise – I Will Lead You

Quote

God’s Promise – I will teach you and lead you along the path I have designed for you.

Take time each day and pray, holding a conversation with the Holy Spirit in you. Incline your ears to hear His quiet voice. It’s a voice we should learn intimately.

A Conditional Promise

Quote

There are two types of promises God offers us, the preferred ‘unconditional’ promise – you do nothing to receive it, and the ‘conditional’ promise, you must do something to receive the promise. John 3:18 is a conditional promise, there is no judgement against believers. This scripture is a conditional promise from God. No judgement for believer’s, judgement for non-believer’s. The latter is not God’s desire. God does not want anyone to perish, yet if they go down this road they will.

“The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” 2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭NASB‬‬

It might be safe to say, we all have family members and friends that don’t really believe in Christ. They know of him, but not in Him for various reasons.

This is where our responsibility to the Good News (the Gospel) begins. It is time to share, Jesus is more than a Prophet, He is our Lord and Savior, who died for our sins and offers us Salvation.

In sharing, we must do two things 1) share the Word, and 2) demonstrate the Word through our behavior. 1 John 3:18 further explains the purpose of demonstration.

Jesus is Love. Non-believers need to see us exude Jesus’ Love in all we do. It is a big order , the carnal man prefers to act out, but as followers of Christ we must hold the Gospel close to our hearts, and live and share the ‘Good News.’ We are God’s ambassadors on earth.

So here we are – Conditional Promises always requires something from us, in this case evangelism. We evangelize through Word and deed (action). They are linked, neither is effective on their own.

Broken? The Lord Is With You

Quote

God’s Promises – I am with you in your brokenness. I am with you when your spirit feels crushed.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Psalm‬ ‭34:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This morning my Pastor reiterated that the crucifixion of Christ was God’s demonstration that He loves us and sacrificed His Son to free us (paraphrased). Jesus was broken and crushed, not because he sinned, but to save us because we are sinners. Christ died to set us free. When we accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior, we were freed, ‘saved’ and filled with the Holy Spirit. when the Holy Spirit took up residence in us, we were given the right to walk in God’s authority and His power.

So what does this have to do with our being broken-hearted?

Broken-hearted is when we finally strip away our pride, our focus on self, and surrender to God saying, “not my will, but your will God.” It is when we stand up, crush our free-will, our worldly life, our flesh, and replace it with God’s Will.  It is staying ‘awake’ and corralling our carnal life, refashioning it to reflect the image of God who directs our paths.

Christ sacrificed his life for us and we, in turn, sacrifice our lives for Him. When we recognize the importance and purpose of His sacrifice for us, we are freed. Our Lord promised to always be close to us. He is with us when we are broken-hearted and when our spirit is crushed. We exist because of His righteousness.  We are never alone.

Lack of Discipline, Part of Growing Peace and Holiness

Quote

The title seems contradictory. Often the Word sounds that way, but God is not human and is not bound by our logic. His logic and Word is purposeful.

The ‘here and now’ looks bright and appealing but when we look back, we often wish we had listened to our parents, mentors, and God’s quiet voice. Well, God said, ‘don’t live in the past of could have’s.’ Learn as you grow into Christian maturity. We are like fruit trees. The trees bear fruit at different times of the season. So too does our fruit of righteousness that leads to the death of sinful acts and produces holiness, and in time offers the peace and calm our soul longs for. Our confidence in the Word grows over time.

To respond properly to the Father’s discipline, submit to it and grow in holiness through it.

Good Fight of Faith

Quote

img_8210

I remember the days when I said, ”thank God, it’s Friday.” Finally, the end of the work week. I could sleep in a little longer and take it easy. Not really easy, my work duties were taken over by weekend chores. I’m a mother of 3 sons, a household of four males, and me.

The point is, I, like most felt the weekend was a time for (relative) rest. And, in secular terms, it is a time for rest, but in the spiritual realm, we have no time off. The truth is – to relax in the spiritual realm is dangerous. Why? Satan ramps up his attack on our lives when we are not alert. Fighting the ‘good fight of faith’ is a 24/7 commitment. God’s grace, our faith, and the scriptures are our weapons.

As Christians, we are called to share the Good News through word and deed. Setting this commitment aside for a few days weakens our spiritual health.

It is called the good fight because we are sharing the Word about God and Truth.

Each morning I prepare to fight the good fight (which is a battle) by putting on the Whole Armor of God (every warrior wears armor) and call my angel to duty. We can never relax to the point of leaving ourselves open to attack.

The Good Fight of Faith is a lifelong calling. We can never let down our guard. We should say, “Thank you God for waking me up at the appointed time every day because this is the day that You have made, and I am  ready and prepared for whatever lies ahead.”

We are blessed to be Gods children and warriors. My mantra is – “Armor Up and Fight the Good Fight of Faith every day.”

Have a great weekend.

Every Day is a Beautiful Day

Quote

When we awake and begin to examine our day by the things around us, we lose the opportunity to begin our day as the Lord has planned. The scriptures remind us the Lord made this day,

This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 NKJV

Every day is a perfect gift,

Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1:17 NLT

The Lord is our shepherd,

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows;  he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid for you are close beside me.Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. Psalm 23:1-4 NLT

The Lord is with us in times of uncertainty,

Though I am surrounded by troubles,
you will protect me from the anger of my enemies.
You reach out your hand,
and the power of your right-hand saves me. Psalm 138:7 NLT

The Lord is our rock, shield, and refuge,

My God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
    and my place of safety.
He is my refuge, my savior,
the one who saves me from violence.
I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise,
and he saved me from my enemies. 2 Samuel 22:3-4 NLT

The Lord gives us peace,

And the peace of God, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 NASB

A beautiful day begins with a beautiful mindset, even if we wallow in misery and uncertainty, we should keep our eye on the Lord and look through His lens, and recite, ‘it’s a beautiful day.’

After all, God gave us this day, awakened us, and walks with us throughout the day!

How will your days begin?
