Why Cane Killed Abel

A friend posted this sermon on FB. This makes you say, hum. We have heard this story throughout our lives, we know this story, and it may be time to hear it again, for many, it is time to believe it and move forward in the divine providence of God, meaning the protective care of God. (Online, dictionary.com)

Cain killed Abel not because Abel wronged him or fought with him but, it was because Cain couldn’t stand the FAVOUR OF GOD on Abel’s life.

Sometimes you may wonder why people talk behind your back, why they hate you, why they do the things they do to you. It’s not that you have a problem, it’s because they can’t stand the favour of God on your life.

That’s why you don’t need to stress yourself over people who are determined to frustrate or misunderstand you. You have to understand that not everyone will like you but everyone shall witness that you are favoured by the Lord.

Stand firm in God and what you believe in and no one will shake you.

Jeremiah 31:3, He Drew You

Isn’t this a beautiful verse? He has drawn us. Out of his mind, to paper he gave us life. Have you ever observed a child drawing. They do so with such intensity. Their focus is spot on. I can image the Lord doing the same.

The full verse reads:

I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you. (‭Jeremiah‬ ‭31‬:‭3‬ AMP)

He loves us with everlasting kindness. It doesn’t matter what we have done with our lives; he loves us still. He has faith that we will find our way when we accept that he unconditionally loves us. His love is merciful and steadfast. It is covenant love. Covenant love is a pact between God and each one of us. It is everlasting.

How awesome is this? Shame cannot destroy it. Missed opportunities cannot destroy it. Pride cannot destroy it. You can run but you cannot escape God’s unfailing loving-kindness. He has drawn us. He created us. We came from Him. He unconditionally loves His creation, i.e., Us.

Forgiveness is Not Easy

Believe me, it is not easy to forgive, because it is not easy to forget past hurts. Before we can forgive as God commanded, we must first learn how to disconnect from past hurts. This is the most difficult part of the preparation for forgiving. We give life to our thoughts every time we allow them to re-enter our consciousness. They are restrictive, remotely controlled, and Satan’s ploy to distract us and keep us from activating God’s Word in our lives.

It is impossible to remove them if they live in our present day thoughts, they remain part of us and continue to define us as earthly vessels. However, it is possible to retire them to a place of dormancy where they can no longer access energy to be reborn. Each time they resurface and we cowl to their power we replace the power of the Word of God, which is our ultimate power source. Satan created or minimally inspired the hurt that weakens us, by giving renewed life to the experience(s) each time we are distracted by them, meaning they do not lay dormant as long as you continue to give them energy through our thoughts.

Satan inspires and maintains past hurts to weaken us.

Satan knows that as long as we are enslaved by past hurts, we cannot follow God’s command to forgive. This is the wedge he placed between our spiritual development and our carnality. We cannot forgive if we cannot control our thoughts and release ourselves from continuously being victimized by our thoughts.

We must retire the past and allow it to become part of our past, in a catatonic state so we can stabilize our present, and mature as Christian Warriors. Never forget we live in a good fight4 principality war and we must take God’s commands to heart and use his principles and weapons to secure our ability to control our own thinking.

To this end, all change is a process, a procedure. We must relegate our hurts to the past. We cannot learn to forgive as God forgave us until we rewire our thinking. The scripture says we are not of this world, though it tries to enslave us. We do however live in this world where Satan continues to treat us as pawns in his plan to take over the earth and all that resides on it. Consequently, we must stay vigilant, awake and constantly return thoughts that pervade our thinking back into a catatonic state. In short, we must speak to the hurt, reject the thought and replace it with God’s words.

As a caveat, we should not remain in harmful environments if there is physical or emotional harm, however, if the experiences are behind us, we must learn to take away their power and replace it with the Word of God, our true power source.
The actual scripture reads: “Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” Col 3:13, NLT

Forgiveness1 Our humanistic conversation sounds something like this: He/She harmed me, how can I forgive them? I hate them. God’s response is, I forgave the people that crucified my innocent son, there is nothing worse than that. If I can forgive them, you can forgive those that caused you personal harm as well. Don’t let the hate become a badge of victimization, an albatross around your neck. Capture it once and Forgiveness3 for all and put it in cryosleep. Is this easy? No. But God commanded and our answer should be ‘Yes Lord. I forgive those that have done me harm and am no longer bound by the hurt.’

God’s Command to us – FORGIVE, as I forgave you.

When You Doubt

It is not a sin to doubt what God is doing in your life during the dark, quiet moments. We are human, and through our frailties, we will have moments and sometimes seasons of doubting his existence in our lives, crying out like Jesus, “Lord, why have you forsaken me, why are you so far from saving me?” Psalm 22:1. But like Jesus, we will eventually say, “not mine, but your will be done.” Mark 14:36. It is during these times that our faith is either fortified or wanes.

Consider this – When we doubt, we are in a period of growth. We are not in our comfort zone; we are preparing for our next big step. Doubt creates the process of gestation.

(Doubting) Thomas

Thomas was one of Jesus’ disciples. He lived and worked with Jesus; he saw miracles, was informed about what to expect during Jesus time on earth. Yet, when Jesus was crucified, Thomas began to doubt. He knew the story, the purpose of Jesus time on

earth, but in reality, if Jesus was the Son of God, he should not have suffered as he did. Jesus was not supposed to die as forecasted. When he was resurrected, Thomas could not fathom Jesus reappearing as a spirit-man. He told the spirit-man to prove he was Jesus. After he touched the wounds, he believed. His faith was restored, it was fortified.

Thomas became a radical believer through doubting, not through walking with Jesus and not through observing miracles. Witnessing these things did not fortify him beyond doubting the reality of the resurrection. After Christ said to Thomas touch my wounds, he knew it was Christ resurrected and no longer doubted. Because he moved beyond doubting, he traveled outside of the Roman Empire to spread the Good News to a foreign, distant part of the world. Would he had done so, if he did not doubt? Perhaps not, his fellow disciples stayed closer to home. The doubting was the catalyst for change. He no longer hoped, he knew that Christ was his Lord and Savior.

Mirroring Thomas, Finding Our Strength

We do not have the advantage of physically experiencing Jesus’ life on earth. Ours is a spiritual relationship. Doubting is part of the process of knowing. It eliminates blind obedience. It reinforces our faith, because during these times we must in faith believe for the change, the miracle, the growth. We cannot faint not, we have to stand.

We must say to the devil, “he that is in me, is greater than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4. My circumstances are temporal, my relationship with the Lord is eternal. This too will pass. These trials are just that, trials. I am an overcomer through Christ, who dwells in me. My doubting is leading me to victory. It is part of the process of becoming a radical Christian, a Christian Warrior thoroughly embedded in our relationship with the Lord.

Crucifixion and Resurrection in a Nutshell

The crucifixion and resurrection marked time. God sent his son to serve as our example and experience what it is to be human. Through this process we are saved through Gods grace. He also left us a gift to help us live a Christian life in Jesus’ absence.

Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit who resides in us. He’s the nudge, the quiet voice that tells us not to veer but stay the course. He’s also the voice that tells us what to say in interviews, to loan officers and friends in need. Luke 12:12

Listen for his voice and recognize his nudge. We often ignore them to our detriment. Like me, we live, and we learn.

Today, think about three instances when you did not listen and the consequences and three times you did listen and the outcomes.

It is through Christ that we live life with purpose. It is through His purpose for our lives that we will join Him in heaven.

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,”

Strength in Brokenness

Proverbs 18:14 states that if our inner spirit is injured, the whole person will struggle.

‘The Spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, but who will heal a broken spirit?’

We cannot cure our broken spirit by ourselves, no matter how we try. It is impossible. Only God can heal us, but we must shed our pride, stubbornness, self-will and sinful habits first. We must repent and acknowledge we are broken and dysfunctional and need His help. It is through God’s grace that our sinful nature, our sinful humanity can be reconciled. Jesus was crucified to take away our sin. Through God’s love and sacrifice, we are able to repent and be redeemed. Through His grace and mercy, we can be made whole.

The dichotomy between the spirit man and the carnal man is that we see brokenness as ‘failure’ but our Lord sees brokenness as the beginning of healing. To God, brokenness is the beginning of our relationship with Him. When we are broken, we become completely dependent upon Him and in turn, He will begin to rebuild us in His image. Only when we surrender and cry out for help, can we be restored and transformed.
